Peter McKinnon has another product drop on his Pete’s Pirate Life site. One of the items available is a log book for keeping track of oil changes and other types of maintenance. I have enough Field Notes memo books laying around that I could just throw one of those in the car.
I miss the iPod. In the same way e-readers let you focus on just words, the iPod let you focus on music. Sure, later interactions of it let you store photos, video, and even games on it. It wasn’t necessarily great at any of those things. But, it was great at allowing you to take a large, organized collection of music with you.
The iPod synced through iTunes on both Mac and Windows. This not only included music, but, playlists as well. Even better, you could sync smart playlists and even smart playlists built off other smart playlists. I learned of this feature from Merlin Mann’s 43 Folders site back in the day. This really got me into listening to every song and album I brought into my collection. I made sure all the metadata like genres and sub-genres were correct, and every track got a 1-5 star rating.
