HARRISON H. KENNEDY AWARD
(West Virginia High School Football Player of Year)
The Kennedy Award is named for Wheeling native Harrison H. Kennedy, one of the main figures at New York’s Downtown Athletic Club who served as chairman of the Heisman Award Committee. Until 1954, Kennedy Award winners were invited to the Heisman Award presentation, after which the Kennedy Award is modeled.
