With 8 personnel in quarters, the Chief, Squad, Rescue and Boat headed to Lock 2 at Long Level due to the caller unable to make contact with 911 and no answer at other firehouses. Chief 41 notified Lancaster County due to the incident being in their jurisdiction, and requested a rescue assignment including Boat 41. All 41 units and the Fire Chief arrived with 12 personnel and found a subject that had fallen off the roadway down a steep 30’ embankment into a creek tributary.
Crews quickly made patient contact and rigged a simple 3:1 haul system using a stokes basket for extrication and the Squad as the anchor. Total extrication time was 10 minutes from arrival.
