Do you remember the last time listening to the piano player at a hotel lobby abroad? Have you ever been in a bar, accompanied by smooth piano chords from the background? Do you know what it's like going through a shopping mall, when suddenly a melody reaches out for you, a tune that you love, but can't say it's name? All these experiences have a common root: the art of piano bar music.
In 2020 producers Christian & Claudio Lanz started a project that aims to work out the essence of this form of art. Due to the pandemic, Claudio finally found the time to record the whole repertoire that he keeps in his head as a pianist and which he used to play for many years in bars, restaurants, hotels and cruise ships all over the world. To fully concentrate on the live character of the music, they decided to record every tune as a one take, without any cuts and editing.
In order to evoke feelings of peace, relief, relaxation and connectedness for the broadest possible audience, WORLD PIANO BAR is fueled by a lot of different genres and musical eras - such as: Jazz, latin, pop, film music, classical piano pieces and video game music. Crucial to this project is the instrument used for the recordings: A special Grotrian Concertino upright piano, which was pre-owned by Rolf Bosse, the former chief voicer of the Grotrian Piano Company in Braunschweig.
