The Wood V-X Ranch was founded in 1940 by Riley and Gladys Wood in the Gold Creek area north of Sandpoint. The V-X (pronounced V bar X) brand was registered with the State of Idaho in 1941 as the hot brand to identify live cattle. In the mid 50’s the original 960-acre ranch property was purchased by Jim and Virginia Wood who expanded the ranch in the Gold Creek area.
