Hurricane Irma was an extremely powerful and catastrophic category 5 hurricane which developed off the Cape Verde islands around 30th August and hit the Leeward Islands (the group of islands where the northern Carribean sea meets the western Atlantic ocean), the Bahamas, Cuba, and the east coast of America (especially Florida) with winds up to 295 kph. When it eventually dissipated around the 16th of September, it has left 132 people dead and caused damage close to USD63 billion.
