Description: The smooth forms of driftwood and sandstone, as well as traditional native artwork, inspired Angellos to explore wood as a sculptural media. Economic pressure, and his desire to improve his marketability, led him to expand his repertoire, first from in the round sculptures, and then on to carved doors and mirrors, and finally to an interest in designing and making furniture.

Angellos Glaros lives in Nanaimo, as tropical a climate as can be found in Canada. He is inspired by the materials, and the richness of his coastal environment. Angellos' work reflects the color and life that can be seen around Vancouver Island. His earlier work derives from the First Nations influences which remain dominant on the West Coast of Canada.
