We live in a house which originally comprised three small farm labourers' cottages. A date on a brick in the chimney suggests that it was built in 1839. At one time, these cottages, along with the farmhouse next door, another larger cottage on the other side and a pair of oasthouses formed a small hamlet surrounded by fields.
