Description: The Wallingford Animal Shelter not only houses pets for adoption, but is in charge of animal control throughout the town. Wildlife rescue, responding to citizens complaints and humane law enforcement are part of what the shelter does.

The shelter is staffed Monday - Friday 8:30 AM to 6 PM, and public hours are 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Weekends are staffed 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and only open to the public by appointment. During these hours we are available to answer questions, respond to complaints, and give you information on our adoptable pets. In the event of an emergency, there is always an Animal Control Officer available. I adopted my beautiful Lab 6 years ago and the joy she has brought us is unimaginable. I found that she was always happy for a return visit which tells me how well she was cared for. She was shy in the beginning, but I have added four grandchildren and she loves each one. The excitement when they visit is wonderful to see.
