I’m Victoria, a Vietnamese-American research scientist. I study how to prevent and treat child and adolescent mental disorders, particularly in global low-resource settings.
The questions I am most passionate about: How do genetics, social, environmental, and biological risks – such as exposure to violence, low family cohesion, and poverty – shape symptoms of mental disorders (anxiety, depression, psychosis, PTSD and other sequelae of trauma)? And what can we do about it?
My clinical and epidemiological research aims to design, adapt, and test integrated psychosocial interventions addressing the complex drivers of mental health disparities. I am interested in a blend of methodologies, including prevention and implementation science and applied statistics using R and Python. I am trained in statistical and predictive modeling, machine learning algorithms, longitudinal data analysis, and the design and conduct of randomized controlled trials.
