The primary project of the Club is the financial support given to athlete scholars from the Virginia Beach high schools. The scholarship program was only an idea until Mr. Gordon Kavanaugh donated a sizeable contribution to really get it off the ground. The Club has awarded over 450 scholarships totaling over $300,000 since the program began. Through this program, the Sports Club is investing in the future of Virginia Beach, by helping the education of our most important product – our future.
Each spring the Club conducts its annual Sports Jamboree to raise funds to support the scholarship program and honor high school athletes and coaches. The Jamboree recognizes the outstanding male and female athletes from each of the Virginia Beach Public High Schools. The Jamboree awards are primarily for extraordinary athletic achievements during the school year. The athletic awards are distinct and separate from the scholarship awards presented at the end of the school year for academic accomplishment
