Vanilla Man is owned and managed by Werner (Van) van der Walt. Van's 17 years experience as a chef played a great part in his interest in this unique product: The Queen of Spices!
Vanilla Man was started after a visit to Madagascar in 2002. At that time vanilla retailed for R5000 a kg and was very hard to find in South Africa. Since then, awareness and availability has grown and "Vanilla Man, Pure Vanilla" is now a must-have in every kitchen! We are proud to say that Vanilla Man has been instrumental in supplying a more affordable product.
Since our first visit to Madagascar we have travelled to many destinations in search of vanilla, exploring different areas of cultivation.
