Dear Fellow Tribologists, Tribology Society of India deeply regrets to inform the passing away of Prof. Mark Robbins of the Johns Hopkins University. Prof. Robbins passed away at his home on the morning of the 13th of August 2020. He worked on the atomistic aspects of friction. Prof. Robbins ("Mark" to colleagues) was a person who could explain to a layman what friction meant at the atomistic level. A close associate of Prof Satish Kailas, Vice President (TSI), he was always keen to participate in TSI event
