Torsey Pond has two chicks near the north entrance to the narrows. Please paddle or boat carefully in this area.
Torsey Pond did loose two other nests: One was washed out form a fast moving and heavy rainstorm. The nest was located in the middle of the south section of the lake between Torsey Shores Rd and Stage Coach Rd on a flaoting island. The other nest, with two visible eggs in the Northwest cove on one of the islands, was abandoned.
The TPA, in collaboration with Maine Audubon, built and launched 2 nesting rafts for our loons April 22, 2022.
