During the last period of time I’ve given a lot of thought to what creates a high performance development organization - or any other organization for that matter. I just happen to be working with software development.
Here’s what I’ve learned:
Start with the “why”. People need a purpose. As a leader the single most important thing you can do is to give your followers a purpose to believe in. There are two types of leaders in the world: Those who suppress their subjects (aka dictators) and those who people choose to follow because they believe in the vision the leader has.
