Our business name "Thornby" comes from the name of our historic farming property at Sanderston on South Australia's Murray Plains. Our family, the McGorman's, have been farming this property for over 120 years with current 4th generation families Alex and Fiona and Paul and Kimberley continuing this family tradition with the help of a great team.
Operations on Thornby has increased in scale to today annually cropping 6,000 acres of broadacre cereal grains and hay and finish over 60,000 lambs through our AusMeat accredited lamb feedlot. Seeing that our lambs were unique in quality, we started selling our lambs direct to the public, initially via a weekly stall at our local Farmer's market, then progressed to owning and running our own butcher shop in Tanunda. Today we have created our own brand Thornby Premium Lamb that holds the title of Australia'
