In my obsessive ruminations on the paranormal, I am often struck by how we cope with the thought of death and the fear of non-existence. My shrine is packed with statues of saints, Buddhas, and assorted religious relics. One of those is a small, ornate, silver box that once belonged to my paternal grandmother.
