The Tea Board of Tanzania (TBT) is a corporate body established by the Tea Act No. 3 of 1997 and came into force on the 1st October 1997 following the separation of the regulatory and development functions of the then Tanzania Tea Authority (TTA). It is entrusted with the mandatory responsibility of regulating the tea industry in Tanzania. The main functions as set out in the Tea Act No. 3 of 1997 (amended 2009) are as follows:
