" Deciding how to render a landscape or a figure, as I hold a brush or a length of wire in hand, is exciting and sometimes frightening. Frequently, I have no clear idea where a piece is going, just perhaps a vague plan of how it might work. Exploration and experimentation is the essence of creation. After a few strokes of the brush on a canvas or adding a few pinches of clay to a nascent sculpture, things start magically happening and I am on my way!"
