This sweet baby fox is one of a series I have started of wildlife painted on broken gold leaf. The process of preparing the 2" cradle board with a cherry red underpainting and then applying the gold leaf in a broken manor is to give an old world patina and elegance. Once the surface is ready the subject is painted with texture and vivid color. The final result is a juxtaposition of old world elegance and untamed wildlife. Incredibly time consuming and rewarding.
