Stour Power Women’s Institute was established in 2014 to meet the demand for another WI in the Throop area of Bournemouth. Aiming to encourage younger women and mums to join in making a child-friendly, truly accessible WI for all; where ladies of all abilities can share their knowledge, skills and experience. On September 10 th 2014 twelve ladies met for a coffee morning at Castlepoint Library to discuss what they would like to see and do at this exciting new WI. Stour Power has grown in stature with a wealth of knowledge, talent and skills to pass on to new and existing members, regardless of age or ability. We never stop learning and this is reflected in the various groups established within Stour Power WI. Our craft/knitting group meets monthly at John Pound House and anyone who has skills to show and teach us is more than welcome. The walking group venture out twice a month exploring the local countryside and manage to find time for tea and cake at the end, all
We hope there is something for everyone, and members can learn something new whilst making new friends and enjoy their companionship. We like to support the local community with members bringing in items needed each month for the foodbank at Kinson.
