socialworkerswho.design - Social Workers Who Design

Description: SWWD is helmed by Rachael Dietkus, MSW, LCSW. Design encourages practitioners to think of themselves as designers tackling complex social problems using a creative and collaborative human-centered approach that focuses on empathy and recognizes the importance of social context. It is not enough to be empathic. Values, human interaction, and compassion are vital.

Social Workers Who Design started informally as a seed of an idea back in 1998, was nurtured more in 2008 and became a slowly-flourishing pursuit in 2018. We function as a small, social justice design advocate studio and practice lab. We work with partners worldwide who are committed to the caring aspects of design research, education, and practice.

Our values guide the way we work. Read our principles with purpose and how we practice with our living model of change .
