John holds a degree in architecture from Rhode Island School of Design and participated in the European Honors Program in Rome in 1967. After graduate work at the University of Pennsylvania, he worked in architectural offices in Cambridge, Massachusetts before moving to MidCoast Maine in 1973. Silverio Architecture + Design continues in Lincolnville, Maine while John focuses on painting and sculpture in his home studio. Throughout his life he has painted landscapes. He developed an interest in abstract work around 2011, making this his focus since his retirement in 2016.
His current work is based on geometric studies often employing the Fibonacci series or the Golden Ratio. He searches for a visual quality best described as radiance.
