Matt is a 4th year PhD student studying Computer Vision at the Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing, University of Surrey , specifically working with 360° cameras in dynamic scene understanding, person tracking and scene reconstruction. His primary application is for entertainment, with easy modification to health care and safety systems.
Prior to this, Matt was a programmer the Met Office , creating and maintaining a variety of horizontally scalable Java/PostgreSQL based data systems, each with unique balances speed of access against high security concerns.
Outside of work, Matt finds his free time taken up with baking, archery, and playing board games with friends. He also enjoys walking and travelling.
