In 1994 by Memphis native, Kashan Ramahn (formed a diversified band that Incorporated funk, R&B and soul with elements of smooth jazz that he would later describe their unique sound as galactic Soul. With songs like, " WHAT'S YOUR PLEASURE " from their debut album, "Light Of Life," (Phonzari Records) and " LOVE STARTS WITH YOU ," the Los Angeles-based band drew the attention to the local music scene. Saturn has shared the stage with the legendary, Morris Day & The Time, community neighbors, Hiroshima and soul legends, The Drifters, to name a few. Ramahn, who plays bass, and vocals for SMU. Vocalist Lisa Marie Williams ("Lisa Marie Sings"), Norm 'Thundersticks' Lane (Drums) and keyboardist, Troy Ferguson . Guitarist, Donovan Knox , (The Donovan Knox Trio) also adds vocals, and Wynell Montgomery , Saxophone, flute and Keyboards round out the SMU sound.
