Lake Sam Rayburn or Sam Rayburn Reservoir is a reservoir in Deep East Texas and an upstream of the Big Thicket National Preserve. It's located 70 miles north of the city of Beaumont and is fed by the Neches River's major tributary, the Angelina River. With a capacity of 3,997,000 acre feet, it is Texas' largest lake. The US Army Corps of Engineers in Fort Worth is in charge of its operation.
Lake Sam Rayburn is a popular fishing destination. Throughout the year, it hosts lots of fishing tournaments with extravagant prizes. Also, within it is a local fish hatchery that produces catfish, forage fish, and bass.
