Twice nominated for an Academy Award for "Rebel without a cause" , and "Exodus" , Sal was the youngest actor in history to be nominated for an Oscar up until that time for "Rebel."
Sal won the Golden Globe award for Best Supporting actor in, "Exodus." Sal also won the Golden Laurel award for "Exodus." Sal was also nominated for a Primetime Emmy for Best Single Performance by an actor in 1957, "Studio One in Hollywood: Dino."
