The Savannah Shamrocks Rugby Club is a rugby union team from Savannah, Georgia. We were founded in 1978 by Tom Nelson and Carl Shoemaker, who were looking for something “different” to do. As a result, our Savannah rugby tradition was established. The club now boasts over 50 members spread throughout our organization. This includes a Men’s and Women’s team as well as an Old Boy’s squad to maintain our extensive network of players. The teams play throughout the Southeastern region and are members of the Carol
The Shamrocks host The St. Patrick’s Day Rugby Tournament here in Savannah, Georgia. It is one of the largest in the country. Every year the tournament has over 75 teams from locations such as Michigan, Maryland, Florida, Georgia, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, West Virginia as well as teams from Canada, England and Ireland. The list of teams and their home countries changes every year. The St. Patrick’s Day Tournament is held in DaffinPark, Savannah, Georgia.
