The first Respicond VIII was delivered 2013 to Zurich. Since 2022 we only sell our newest RESPICOND X system. It consists of one temperature controlled cabinet containing 48 vessels (6 shelves with 8 vessels on each shelf) . The conductometer and the multiplexer are built-in. The 48 vessels system can easily be expanded with a second cabinet to have a total number of 96 measuring vessels. RESPICOND X measures the evolution of CO 2 by capturing it in KOH. This results in a decrease of the conductance in the hydroxide solution, which is measured with platinum electrodes in each incubation vessel. It is a greatly improved version of the apparatus (Respicond I) described in: Nordgren, A. (1988) Soil Biology & Biochemistry 20, 955-958. (See Price for details).
