The owner-built strawbale farmhouse at Red Moon Sanctuary is completely off-grid and features passive solar and bushfire resistant design. The house is naturally cool in summer and warm in winter. Waterless composting toilets return all nutrients to fruit trees. Recycled materials feature heavily in the fittings and furnishings of the house.
