The Bible tells the story of Jesus visiting his home town of Nazareth. When the people in Nazareth looked at Jesus, they saw the son of a carpenter. They knew his mother as well as his brothers and sisters, and they couldn't bring themselves to believe that Jesus was special. His words suprised them when he taught in the synagogue, and they wondered how and where he got the power to heal. The passage clearly states that it was unbelief that prevented miracles from happening in Nazareth. Jesus healed hundreds of people before he visited Nazareth, and he healed thousands after he left. But Nazareth missed out because of unbelief.
When you read accounts of Jesus healing the sick, Jesus made it clear that it was the faith of the sick person that made the miracles happen. That is why Jesus said over and over, "As you believe, so shall it be done unto you."
