With this principle in mind, the Philharmonia Corea was founded in spring 2009 as the first self-governed orchestra in Korea. Its members have a democratic say in all organizational and artistic issues and therefore share the same responsibility in an effort towards artistic excellence. Soon, the newly formed orchestra successfully performed throughout Korea and could establish its own concert series in Seoul. The Philharmonia Corea's logo is composed of the letters P and C. Together, they form a sine wave which symbolizes the quintessence of sound. The colour red stands for passion and love of music, whilst blue represents a commitment to artistic excellence and artistic freedom. The two colours combined also testify to the orchestra's origin; likewise, the choice of the font is reminiscent of the black trigrams in the Korean national flag. [ To download logo click here. ]
