One of the reasons Peter E. Cunningham enjoys being a financial advisor is the diversity of people he gets to meet. His clients can vary widely, from the 21-year-old moving out of their parent’s house to the centenarian looking out for their loved ones. He has such a close relationship with his clients that they attend each other’s weddings, birthdays and other events. To Peter, his clients are like family, and he not only wants to help them achieve their financial goals but celebrate with them when they do
Aside from work, Peter is passionate about philanthropy. He grew up in a middle-class town in New Jersey and has always appreciated how fortunate he was to be able to attend a good school and be provided with the support from his family that he needed to succeed. Since 1997, through the Ellen Cunningham Akmentins Educational Scholarship Fund, Peter and his family have been able to fund over $250,000 in college tuition for three of the local high school students. This initiative has since been expanded upon
With a passion for helping kids in education, Peter worked with Kidsense – an organization with the goal of teaching young kids in public schools about finance – during the late 90s and early 2000s. Nothing is more rewarding to Peter than getting a thank you letter from a student telling him how he’s changed their life. Peter no longer has the time to visit all of the schools personally. Still, he is delighted that one of his clients wants to resurrect the program, again showing the serendipitous relationsh
