Eight years ago, Helen welcomed 3-year-old Kitty into her life. Since then, they have become inseparable and have changed each other’s lives hugely.
Following the 2011 Christchurch earthquakes, the house that Helen and her husband owned had to be completely rebuilt. This took over two years to work on and finalise. One winter, after setting up a tarpaulin during the rebuilding process, Helen discovered a little black cat had taken up residence in the garden. The cat appeared at their patio door a few nights later, loudly meowing for food.
