“Spring” weather in Montana can be snowy one day, warm and sunny the next, and stormy with hail the day after that (like today). Several beautiful days of sun last week prompted me to put the paints in the car and “head out.” Driving around the valley reveals many wonderful views and it is common to be tempted by one, then another and another, before finally settling on what to paint. I picked this scene of cows and pastures, willows and mountains, because it feels like it could be the entire valley. T
According to its motto, Virginia City (20 minutes from our cabin) has been “resisting change since 1863.” At the edge of town, there is an old Opera House where the Virginia City Players perform Melodramas and Vaudeville every summer. A few days ago Jen suggested that we go paint the pond behind the Opera House, Players’ Pond. Since the fall colors have been fabulous this year, off we went.
On arrival, instead of painting, Jen headed off to visit a friend. I stayed and painted and spent a great hour or two on a beautiful fall afternoon . Here is a short video of my painting at Players’ Pond. https://clipchamp.com/watch/7V4GhGogMwo
