Description: Ovingham Goose Fair takes place on the third Saturday in June every year. It dates back to the 13th Century. During the 19th Century geese were walked from Cumbria to the Christmas markets in Gateshead and Newcastle. Whilst in Ovingham, the geese rested and fattened-up. Their handlers relaxed and made merry.

The Goose Fair is almost upon us! The third Saturday in June just hasn’t been the same in the village over the last few years. But the big goose and the jolly man with the bell are all set to return on Sat 17th June, 2023. The lairds, loons and lubberdoons went about the village on Saturday to sell entrance wristbands early. They are also available at The Village Store and The White Swan. Avoid the queue on the day! £2 for adults. Children are free!
