From May 1 until Nov 30 2023 Monday – Friday The Oparara Basin is only accessible to Guided tours. We can offer a transported, 6 hour, Cave/ Arch tour only. Public access to the Oparara Basin is restricted to weekends and public holidays only. Cave only tours are also available at the weekends. This restriction is due to a massive roading upgrade and the use of heavy equipment. 4WD is recommended and vehicles are available for hire in Karamea.
