Photodisinfection is a platform technology that destroys bacteria, viruses, yeasts and fungi and their associated virulence factors in minutes.
Photodisinfection involves applying a photosensitive agent to the area to be treated, followed by illumination with non-thermal laser light for a few minutes. This targeted light activation causes an oxidative burst which destroys the pathogens. When the light is turned off, the reaction ceases.
