NWIX’s mission is to facilitate the efficiency and reliability of Internet services in the Northwest while reducing upstream bandwidth costs by providing peering points that promote local, open data exchange and commerce between carriers, ISPs, enterprises and content providers. NWIX is a carrier-neutral, not-for-profit peering services provider dedicated to reliably and efficiently interconnecting carriers, ISPs, enterprises and content providers in the northwestern United States.
NWIX peering points feature reliable, high performance switch fabrics that Members connect to free of charge. Once connected, a Member may establish bi-lateral peering agreements with other Members on an individual-case basis. The degree of participation is completely controlled by the participating Member, as long as it does not violate the NWIX Acceptable Use Policy.
