Nico Sturm started coming into his own during his second full NHL season as a regular on the fourth line for the Minnesota Wild. He's provided scoring reminiscent of the time he led Clarkson University with 31 assists, 45 points and a plus-23 rating in 39 games of his junior season while proving adept at winning face-offs (392 of 677, 57.9 percent). Sturm scored 103 points (36 goals, 67 assists) and was plus-47 in 118 games for Clarkson (2016-19). The native of Augsburg, Germany also scored 39 points (14 goals, 25 assists) in 57 games for Tri-City of the United States Hockey League in 2015-16, and six points (three goals, three assists) in five playoff games to help it win the Clark Cup. After forgoing his senior season at Clarkson, Sturm signed with the Wild and made his NHL debut three days later, a 3-0 loss to the Boston Bruins. He played 55 games for Iowa in the American Hockey League in 2019-20 before finishing the season for Minnesota. He scored his first two NHL goals in a 6-2 win at the Colorado Avalanche on Feb. 24, 2021.
