I've used a lot of text editors, and thinking about it, I have to admit that once you've seen a text editor, you've basically seen them all. To assess the efficiency of an editor, 80% of the requirements are met by doing one thing: editing the text. The other 20% is bonus features, extra gimmicks, and imaginative features. They're nice to have, but hardly necessary.
However, I often turn to Atom because, as an open source user, I have the luxury of using an application because I can. What I like about Atom.
