Description: Pacific Northwest fiber artist Nan Leaman creates one of a kind hand dyed wraps and wearables using a wide range of shibori and eco dye tecniques.
Finding inspiration from the natural world, botanical gardens and cultures from around the world Nan uses dye and surface design techniques to create and color her work, using natural lightweight wool, silk, combinations of both, and linen. Many of her pieces consist of Japanese Shibori stitch, fold and clamp resist techniques as well as deconstructed silk screen printing and “nuno felt”; a process that incorporates the infusion of wool into silk fibers.
