Our specialist subject is supply chains; we’re fascinated by them but most people look blank when we try to explain what we do! Supply chains touch almost every aspect of our daily lives but many of us don’t know or realise this. We thought we’d set up a project to find out why and that’s where you come in!
Although there’s no shared definition of what a supply chain is, a working example might help.
Jan, who is leading the project, is a Professor of Supply Chain Management and gets quite embarrassed because not even her children know what it means! The easiest way to understand, she explains to them, is that when they eat her friend Kate’s delicious homemade honeycomb ice cream, they become part of Kate’s supply chain.
