Description: The Mutual Engine & Hose Co. #1 was established in 1878 and has been a private fire company that has contracted fire protection with the Village/Town of Mount Kisco since. We are one of four private companies that contracts fire protection to the Village/Town, the other companies being the Union Hook & Ladder Co., the Mount Kisco Rescue/Fire Police, and the Independent Fire Company. On 9-11, The Mount Kisco Fire Department held their annual remembrance of those who lost their lives on that fateful day 21 years ago, including 2 members of our local community. Members of the community and surrounding fire departments gathered to listen to key note speakers, prayers and the ceremonial changing of the flag at the memorial site. Members of the Mutual Engine and Hose Co. along with members of the Bedford Hills Fire Department participated in a joint ice rescue drill. We were fortunate this year to have a period of cold weather long enough to form ice and allow us to get members into the ice rescue suits and practice the maneuvers required to get a person to safety after they have fallen through the ice.
