Our annual January weekend was held in the upper southeast this year. This is a great social weekend where Murray Grey lovers are able to relax and catch up on the year that has been and what’s to come in the future. The weekend kicked off on Friday evening at Good Country Hemp, Bordertown. We were given a tour by Linda Anderson and learnt a lot more about the Hemp industry and processing. Saturday was started with an informative session on cattle selection criteria. This was a great opportunity for all breeders to get involved in the “heifer drafting” process. It doesn’t matter how many times we hear about selections there is always more to learn. It led to great conversation on selection processes and gave us all something to take home and think about. To finish our weekend off we started our day at the ‘Mullbarton Organic’ compost facility. This was a very informative visit. We were all able to look back at our farming systems and see a use for their compost product. It was great to see where Phil had started his business to where it is now, and the dedication he has to getting the right compost for the client. This is very much an evolving industry and is interesting to hear about soil improvements in marginal areas. Our next stop was Padthaway Estate f
