Description: Murals in the Market is an annual Detroit Mural and Public Art Festival.
This year’s festival was a smaller version compared to past events from 2015-2019. After a two-year pandemic-related hiatus, Murals in the Market returned with two sets of murals –– one set dedicated to Eastern Market’s farmers on the south and east elevations of Shed 5 –– while another set dedicated to Eastern Market’s makers, which was installed on the west and north elevations of the Metro Accelerator building at 1420 Adelaide.
A few other murals were installed, including one dedicated to soil fertility that faces Orleans Street on a wall just south of Wilkins Street, and a re-paint of the mural on the east elevation of the building at the northwest corner of Russell and Adelaide.
Participating Artists: Phil Simpson, Sabrina Nelson, Freddy Diaz, Ashley McFadden, Anthony Lee, Ed Irmen, Jesse Kassel, Sheefy McFly.
