Mudhraa was established in 2011 by danseuse Divya Kuppurao to promote the traditional art form Bharatanatyam, which originates from the temples of Tamil Nadu in southern India. One of the most respected dance forms, a Bharatanatyam dance tells a story.
Divya was introduced to Bharatanatyam at the age of 6 and was captivated by the flamboyance and vibrance of dancers. She started learning Bharatanatyam from Smt. Indra Rajan (of the Dandayudhapani Pillai lineage) in the Pandanallur style and continued to enhance her skills under Smt. Ratnamala Saravanan. Her perseverance along with the able support of her beloved Guru helped Divya perform her Arangetram while completing her Engineering degree in India.
Nurture creativity and confidence while being fun for all students Class sizes are intentionally kept small, to ensure personal attention to the individual students. Every class includes Bharatanatyam stories, theory lessons (Slokam, Mudhras, Syllables, Talam), and lots of practice.
