With my painting kit, I travel, camp and fish the back country of the San Juan Mountains creating memories. The quaint, little mining towns, the snow capped peaks, the towering mountain vistas, the spectacle of fall colors, the shimmer of leaves stirred by a summer breeze and the splash of color of summer wildflowers will capture your heart as they have mine.

Nestled in a glacial-carved valley is a quaint victorian mining town, named after the famous Ute Chief, Ouray. It is here, surrounded by ice-sculpted peaks, that renowned artist Mike Simpson has his art studio and gallery tucked into the old historic Wright Opera House.
