78 years ago, in the early 1940's, the seeds of a new environmental organization were being planted by Hugh Hammond Bennett and other Conservationists. Those seeds grew into the Soil Conservation Society of America (SCSA) around 1945, and the first National meeting was held in Chicago in December 1946.
