The Mid Cheshire Circuit of the Methodist Church. The circuit comprises the two towns and surrounding villages with a combined population nearing 100,000, both developed with the salt industry and in Northwich, heavy chemical industries. Today, there is a growing emphasis on light industry and distribution. Both towns are part of the commuter belt with good transportation links to Manchester, Liverpool, Chester, Crewe and London via road and rail.
